Hi Scrappy Friends! I’m excited to share my new layout for Mixed Media Monday! Mixed Media Mondays are my favorite kind of Monday, and I loved making this layout for a monochromatic look! I enjoyed working with all the exclusives in the January Hip Kits, along with some beautiful Hip Kit dies, to create this layout. I hope you are inspired and will share your projects made using these beautiful kits! I have details below and a link to the full process video at the end. Have a beautiful and creative day!
For this Mixed Media Monday layout, I used lots of mediums on the background. I started with the Catherine Pooler “It’s A Girl” ink pad from a past Color Kit. I just blotted it straight on the the background and added water. Because of the beautiful water-reactive nature of the ink, it spread beautifully around the background. I then added a few sprays of the pink Nuvo Mica Mist from a past Color Kit to add some shimmer. Once that dried, I added some stamped floral images using a Hip Kit stamp, and I used texture paste and a Hip Kit stencil to add pattern and dimension to the background. I let it dry, put the stencil back down, and used the small Gina K ink pad from a past kit to add color to the texture paste. I also added a little water to make it a little less perfect and a little more playful. Once all of that dried, I added the “Beets Me” Inklingz from Shimmerz Paints from the January Color Kit to the top of it all to better coordinate with the patterned paper in the January Main Kit.
I used patterned paper to create a landing place for my photos. On top of that, I used die cut pieces that I made using the Hip Kit Background Geo 01 Metal Die. I cut it three times on a piece of pink cardstock from the January Cardstock Kit. This adds great texture to the layout. I only adhered down the very center of the die cut pieces, so they add movement and whimsy as they appear to float in the middle of the layout. I added my three sweet photos on top of this.
I added floral clusters offset to the top right and bottom right of the photos. I gathered these floral pieces from the floral ephemera in the January Hip Kits, and I fussy cut lots of flowers from the January patterned papers. I stuck with the monochromatic theme and tried to only use pinks and white flowers. I left just the tiniest hint of green stems and flowers to ground the floral clusters. I also tucked in quite a few leaves that I cut from white cardstock using the Hip Kit Fancy Fronds 01 Metal Dies.
Below are a few of the products I used from Hip Kit Color Kits and the texture paste from my stash.
