CREATING WITH DIES | SARAH MILLERHOUSE | DECEMBER 2022 HIP KITS

Hello, friends! I’m excited to share my first layout of the year featuring the December 2022 Hip Kits. My technique focus for today is creating with metal dies. I loved adding color and texture to my layout using the snowflakes I cut with these beautiful dies. I have all the details in a full process video up on the HKC Channel (link below) and described below. Have you started using your December kits yet? We would love to see your projects!

I loved using the Layered Snowflakes Metal Dies to create this layout! I started with the striped patterned paper from the December Main Kit. I used this paper to guide my color choices for the snowflakes. I used 6 different colors from the December Cardstock Kit that match the patterned paper perfectly. I cut the 4 snowflakes from each color.

I sat the snowflakes aside while I used the patterned paper to guide where I placed my mixed media wash on the background. I coordinated colors from the November and December Color Kits to match the paper. I then cut the paper apart along the lines of the stripes and distressed the edges.

I then backed my photo with white cardstock and a scrap of the navy cardstock from the Cardstock Kit. I used ephemera and chipboard frames from the Main Kit to draw attention to the photo and create a layered look. The photo is popped up on craft foam.

I then glued down the snowflakes, popping some up on craft foam and leaving others flat and bending the detailed ends of the snowflakes up. I used the chipboard embellishments and alpha stickers to create the title and add detailing to the photo.

I finished the layout by adding beautiful coordinating sequins from the December Embellishment Kit and silver Nuvo drops from the November Color Kit. To watch the Full Process Video for this layout, click the link below:
