LET’S MAKE A MINI ALBUM | MELANIE BAIER-GOESSL | APRIL 2022 HIP KITS

Hello everyone, today I have a 5×5 inch mini album for you. It has a bunch of pockets and flip outs for plenty of photos and stories but is still compact and easy to store. You need at least five papers and / or cardstocks cut to 5×12 plus one additional paper for the cover cut to the same size. The cover is scored at 4, 4 ½ , 9 ½, 10. The inside pages are 1/8 or ¼ of an inch smaller than the 5” width of the album to have some room when sliding the individual pages together.

The first page is a pocket page. To the back of the pocket I attached a white cardstock to create a top pocket and the remainder of the cardstock was folded over to create a flip out on page three. The top side of the first pocket then becomes page four and the remainder of that yellow cardstock creates an additional flip out on page five.

The next paper was sewn to the yellow page five to create another pocket and page six and a flip out on page seven. To mix things up I cut this page on a diagonal and decorated the edge with flowers fussy cut from paper and cut with the metal dies as well as a bird die cut from the main kit. The little flower from the Kaleidoscope metal dies is the recurring theme in my mini to tie all the pages together.

The last paper was scored at 3 and 7 7/8. The remaining flap of page seven is glued to the back cover of the album and on top of that goes the big section of page 8 to give it additional strength.

I attached another page to the right flip out of page eight to create another pocket and to have a little peek-a-boo page where I used the circle metal dies to create the windows.

So basically, you can bind this kind of mini any way you want by attaching the long papers to one another in varying ways. I even made them with some pages opening to the left and others to the right. Have a wonderful day, xx, Melanie
