Hi everyone, Rebecca (@preciouspagespapercraft) here with you today sharing a layout for Cutfile Tuesday, using the December 2021 Hip Kits and a subscriber exclusive cutfile . Did you know that as a Hip Kit subscriber, you get access to a library of exclusive cutfiles every month? Just one of the many reasons to subscribe! You can find the Hip Kit Cutfiles here.
I’ve used one of the frames from the ‘Snowflake Frames’ cutfile, and cut it from plain white cardstock. I’ve then coloured it by mixing the Glacier Paste from the December 2021 Color Kit with some of the ‘Hot Tub’ Catherine Pooler Ink Pad from the November 2021 Color Kit to create a shimmery, minty green colour.
I also had a DT prompt today to use the negative space in my cutfile. I’ve done this by turning the centre of my snowflake frame into a shaker pocket. I backed the circle with my photo – a recent photo of my little boy in the snow – and then added some polystyrene snow balls.
I decided to be brave and use a patterned paper for my background – I used the white paper with the subtle grey snowflakes on it, and added some extra snowflakes using chipboard stickers, clear stickers and die cut snowflakes (created using the Hip Kit metal dies). I also used the cardstock which I’d cut the snowflakes from as a stencil to add some more of the ‘Hot Tub’ ink through to give me some extra snowflakes, focusing my design on the left hand side of the page.
I added some splatters to my background using the Nuvo Sparkle Spray from the December Color Kit, and then adhered my snowflake cutfile in place. I added some winter die cuts from the December Main Kit around my photo, along with some chipboard stickers from the December Embellishment Kit.
I created my title ‘Stay Cozy’ using two different chipboard stickers. I added some sparkle to the word ‘Cozy’ using the Nuvo Crystal Glitter Drops and ‘painting’ it on with a paintbrush. I did the same with the tree die-cut, to give the effect of glistening snow. I also added some nuvo drops around the edge of my circle frame.
I finished the layout off with a couple of the Puffy Stickers from the Main Kit – some leaf sprigs and some stars, and also a chipboard tag which says ‘home’. I thought this was quite fitting as the photo was taken at the end of our road during a quick walk in the only 10 minutes of snow we’ve seen in the last year! I added a metal eyelet through the top of the tag, and threaded some embroidery floss through it so it could ‘dangle’ down the page.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this layout and it’s given you some inspiration for using your December Hip Kits. If you’re a subscriber, don’t forget to check out the exclusive cutfiles! The January Kits have started shipping so you should start seeing the January Cutfiles uploaded soon!
Take care,
Rebecca xoxo
