Mixed Media Monday

Hello everyone, Julie back with you today sharing a mixed media layout. Now I LOVE mixed media but had used it a lot of my previous layouts & thought how could I change it up!!! I wanted to use the gorgeous large frame piece & came up with the idea of making a mixed media background to back some of the apertures.

Want to create layouts like this? Our monthly kits include coordinated papers, embellishments, and supplies to bring your scrapbook pages to life.

I got a spare piece of white cardstock & started smooching & splattering inks & sprays all over it!!! This it a great way to incorporate mixed media if you like a more controlled look, you can get all messy & free but only add a small amount to where you want it to go later.

It looks like I have lots of different shades of blues/purples on there but I’ve only used the Lavender Linnings Nuvo sparkle spray from the October 2021 color kit & the Catherine Pooler Something Borrowed blue ink pad from August 2021 color kit & by adding various amounts, mixed with white acrylic paint, I got lots of different shades to add to my page.

Once dry, I added the background to some of the apertures in the large nested chipboard argyle frames out the embellishment kit & added project life cards to the rest, keeping in with the same tones.

I cut my background cardstock down to 11.5×11.5, distressed the edges & added it to navy cardstock out the August 2021 cardstock kit, adding a small tear on the left where I added a small cluster. I lengthened the page by adding smaller frames off the large one & used a black & white photo, in one of the large frames, & positioned it, over the main frame, on foam tape for added dimension.

My cluster, to the right of the photo comprises of die cuts, fussy cut leaves, a few punched leaves, puffy stickers & some of the fabulous wood veneer leaves.

My title comes out the exclusive Sweater Weather chipboard phrases & our DT prompt was for Thanksgiving & Family Traditions. As we don’t have Thanksgiving in England so I went with my love of coffee, for which I’m VERY thankful for!!!!

Thanks for stopping by today & I hope I have inspired you to look at your mixed media a bit differently & mix up your colours & also a different take on thanksgiving. We all have stuff to be grateful for, the main one being our combined love of crafting & also these wonderful hip kits!!!!

Until next time,

Happy crafting
