Hi Friends, Rebecca with you today sharing my layout for Mixed Media Monday. I’ve created a warm, Autumnal layout using the September 2021 Hip Kits – focusing mainly on the pink and orange elements.
To add some colour to my background, I sprayed the ‘Cotton Candy’ Spritz from the September 2021 Color Kit directly onto my background. It’s quite a pale shade of pink so I wasn’t too worried about spraying it directly on. On top of this, I added some of the ‘Orange Sherbet’ Shimmerz paint, using the packaging technique to help spread the colour. I also added some splatters of both colours using a paintbrush to add a bit more depth. I finished my background off with some stenciled detail using the Echo Park stencil from the September 2021 Color Kit and the pink and yellow Catherine Pooler ink pads from the August 2021 Color Kit. By adding the colours one on top of the other using a blending brush I achieved a lovely golden-orange colour to match my colour scheme.
I wanted to achieve a central design on my page with lots of layering. I used the pink Pinkfresh Studio patterned paper from the Main Kit (‘Together is my Fave’) and created a large pocket to sit on my background. I machine stitched around the edges to seal them and add some texture. I filled this pocket with some of the pocket life cards from the September 2021 Pocket Life Kit. I used the reverse of the orange pocket life card to add my journalling.
I added some paper layers behind my photo using the same pink Pinkfresh paper, and the orange striped Hip Kit Exclusive paper and distressed the edges for a bit more texture. I placed both the pocket and my photo onto the centre of my layout, overlapping and raised up on foam.
I then moved on to the fun part of embellishing my page. The September 2021 kits are made up of a mix of Pinkfresh Studio ‘The Best Day’ collection and the Hip Kit Exclusive ‘September Days’ collection. I went through all the kits and picked out pink and orange elements that would work. The September kits are full of Autumn/Fall elements so I really was spoilt for choice!
I’ve used lots of the Pinkfresh Studio products – the cardstock and puffy stickers from the Pocket Life Kit, some of the ephemera die cuts from the Main Kit, the ‘Fall Love’ chipboard piece, some of the circular chipboard flair and die cuts from the Embellishment Kit, and then I fussy cut lots of the leaves from the ‘Hello Fall’ patterned paper – which I painted pink using the Shimmerz ‘Cotton Candy’ Spritz.
To these, I added two of the denim tabs from the Hip Kit Exclusive pocket pack from the September 20201 Main Kit – one in pink and one in that gorgeous burnt orange colour, and also one of the Hip Kit Exclusive puffy phrases which says ‘The Best’.
I took all these pieces and spread them around the pocket and photo – tucking some in and layering others up on foam to introduce some dimension. I really love how this layout turned out, and love how the colours on the page match my photo.
There is a video up on my YouTube channel if you’d like to watch the process of this layout coming together:
I hope you’ve enjoyed this layout and it’s provided you with some inspiration for using your September 2021 Hip Kits. If you haven’t already got your hands on them, they are still available on the Hip Kit website.
Thanks so much for stopping by, see you next time!
