Hello everyone, today I am sharing my first project – a mini album with a story. My August kit first did not arrive, then was delivered to my local post office for me to pick up but they decided to ship it to another smaller post kiosk which, when I came to finally pick up my kit, informed me that they had returned it to sender. What a nightmare. I was so upset and a little embarrassed that I did not manage to “receive” my first kit. So, what to do? I went stash shopping and collected a few bits and pieces that I had from the August kits and a few leftovers from previous kits. You can always mix and match your kits to get more out of them or use up some leftover pieces with a new kit! Sometimes having limited supplies can also be a great jumpstart for a new project as it limits the time looking for just that right kind of embellishment or finishing touch.

Since I only had very limited supplies I came up with this little 3×4 inch love letter mini for my little daughter. I used the one entire sheet of Heidi Swapp paper from a previous kit, cut it to 9×12, made a first fold by 4 inches and then three more folds at random to create a step design. These staggered folds were embellished with Simple stories die cuts, three photos, stickers from the Amy Tangerine Sticker sheet in the August kits and a few word stickers from a previous kit. I also used the leaves from an exclusive HCK cut file to add to my limited embellishments.

The idea was that my daughter could have the album open on display. Therefore, my journaling is hidden behind the photos because it is a personal message for her.

Once I had finished the album I found a notice in my letter box that I could now pick up the kit at the post office. Apparently, DHL had decided not to return it to sender but rather re-send it to the local office. As you can imagine I was flummoxed but also excited. Long story short, the kit was there and I had so much fun exploring all the goodness in the August kits.

Since I now had all these wonderful supplies at my hand I decided to re-do the cover of the album which was initially done in white cardstock. I exchanged that for this wonderful HKC exclusive paper, added a few beads from the PL kit to the string closure of the book and spruced it up with a few more embellishments. For the closure I made a button out of the half butterfly on the Vicki Boutin cut apart sheet.
