Hey friends! Brianna Lepper here today with a new layout for Mixed Media Monday using the super amazing July 2021 Hip Kits. Our prompt today is to have a multi-photo layout with an interactive element along with mixed media of course. Here’s my layout!
To start, I took the exclusive Boho Mandala (it is part of the July cut files that will be available to you soon!) and cut it on a piece of textured white cardstock. I left it on the cutting mat and then got out the July 2021 Color Kit and painted the cut file using all 3 Shimmerz Paints colors. While my cut file was drying, I started creating my interactive element. While I was video chatting with my crafty friend Shannon, she gave me the idea to create a fold out element so that I could add my two additional photos in it. I thought it turned out so cute!! I took two of the chipboard stickers from the Nested Chipboard Frames in the Embellishment Kit and used them as the handle to open the folder up. I backed my photos using scraps of patterned paper from the kits as well as a few of the Pocket Life cards from the Pocket Life Kit.
Here’s another up close of the inside of my fold out piece:
I embellished using some of the exclusive ephemera (Main Kit), a few puffy stickers and chipboard flair (Pocket Life Kit) and some wood veneer stickers (Embellishment Kit). I am loving all of these beautiful exclusive products! The Flourish collection is probably one of my favorites so far!
For the base of my layout, I used another piece of textured white cardstock and smooshed the colors from the Color Kit around the entire page. I wanted some of the colors to peek out from underneath the cut file. I took one of my acrylic stamping blocks and applied each color and gently smooshed it onto the cardstock. This creates a different look than if I was to paint it on with a paint brush. Definitely similar to the packaging technique!
After my background was finished drying, I popped the entire cut file up on foam strips and adhered it down. I used the exclusive puffy alphas to create my title (Main Kit) and fussy cut some florals from one of the exclusive patterned papers and layered them at the bottom right of my cut file.
I had a lot of fun creating this page and adding mixed media directly to my cut file. Have you tried painting your cut files? It’s a super fun way to jazz them up and don’t forget to try popping it up on some foam. It really brings so much interest to your page. Don’t forget to pick up these beautiful July 2021 Hip Kits so you don’t miss out on all of the exclusives! Thanks so much for being here today and I’ll see you in my next post. Happy scrapping friends!
