Mixed Media Monday | Using a cut file as a stencil | Christina Buresch-Leyrer

Hello everyone! Christina here with a new layout inspiration for you, using the Hip Kit Club March 2021 Main & Embellishment Kit, plus the gorgeous “Floral Jug” May subscriber cut file, and before I will get into the details, here is my layout:

I started by cutting the cut file from a patterned paper, and then placed it on my white cardstock, but turned it and dabbed some blue paint (I used diluted watercolor chalks) over the upper part of the cut file.

Next, I flipped the cut file  again (so it shows the side I wanted to use),  placed it a little lower (so you can see the blue paint above it), marked the heart lightly with a pencil and dabbed some more blue paint to fill it out.

After gluing down the cut file, I began layering all kinds of flowers, e.g. the HKC exclusive floral ephemera from the Embellishment Kit, some fussy cut elements, and also one of the HKC exclusive acetate die cuts from the Main Kit under, over and inbetween the cut file.

Note that I added so many elements, that you can hardly see any of the blue paint peeking through in the end, but well… I had so much fun adding and adding and adding, hahaha.

Then I added my photo, some paper strips at the bottom of the page, my title and journaling, and some blue paint splatters to round it all up.

I hope you like my page and got a little bit inspired… Thank you so much for stopping by!

XOXO

Christina
