First, I took a white card stock sheet 12×12. Then I cut the designer paper to the right size (6 inches), which is about half the size of the white cardstock sheet. I used my sewing machine to sew these edges of this layout. Now I use gesso for the background and apply some gesso with my silicone brush. I grab an extra white card sheet and cut out the March 2021 mandala cutting file with my cricut Maker. I love this beauty!
With a silicone brush and white gesso, I use the cutfile as a stencil on my background. I let the gesso dry by air and mix the beautiful creameez ( Dandy-Lion) with a little bit water and using a brusch to color the gesso mandala. When I’ve finished coloring I make some mixed media splatters with the same color. I also use the mandala on my layout. I give this gorgeous mandala a color with the beautiful Shimmerz Paints spray (Razzledazzle Berry) and let it dry by air. When everything is dry I put the cutfile on the mixed media background. Just feeling the spring vibe already!
Now that my background is done, let’s start decorating this layout. I am using a photo of my daughter at Easter when she was a little younger. I cut some designer paper to size and put it behind the photo to create more layers. I use tape and 3D tape in my projects for more dimension. I slide a few die-cuts between the photo and the cutfile and tape them together. I love being involved in this creative process.
Finally, I’m making my title. “Sweet Bun” I use two different alphas. I love how that turned out. I had so much fun making this layout with mixed media!
