CUT FILE TUESDAY | ANDREA LAKE | FEBRUARY 2021 HIP KITS

Hi Friends! I have a new layout this week featuring the February 2021 Hip Kits. I was challenged to use a cut file (I went with the 365 NEW Dreams exclusive cut file from January) and add some stitching and mixed media details. Did you get the February 2021 Embellishment Kit with the Mixed Media clear stickers? Well, that’s how we are tricking the system today so keep them handy.

I started creating a double frame for my stitched white background using a piece of patterned paper and a piece of cardstock. The beautiful cut file designed by Kim Watson is the main piece of this layout and I wanted to make sure I cut it as big as possible. I used two different techniques to back it. To back the numbers and smaller letters, I placed them upside down and traced them with a pencil, and cut around the edges leaving a small gap to add the glue and adhere them to the cut file. For the bigger letters, I traced them and cut them exactly the same size I got from the cut file and added thick adhesive foam squares, and adhered the letters directly onto the background once my cut file was already in place.

The mixed media clear stickers gave the perfect touch to the page. I had already added a lot of color when backing my cut file and I didn’t want to overload the page. I cut most of the stickers in half and placed them in different places underneath the cut file to bring the whole design to life.

I used the Pink Fresh Studio flower cut files from the February 2021 Main Kit to create a cluster on the right-hand side of the cut file to add some interest and texture. I printed a small square picture of myself and placed it in the upper left corner with some embellishments as well. I finished my page with some handwritten journaling.

I have a process video on my YouTube Channel showing you how this layout came together.  Make sure you visit the Hip Kit Club website to grab your March 2021 Hip Kits to start creating amazing projects. Let me know if you have any questions.
