Anke here with a new Mixed Media Monday layout featuring the December Hip Kits.
The assignment was to create a Valentine themed layout with a sunburst background using mixed media and tone on tone stitching . I modified that a bit but I hope it’s ok. It’s not a typical Valentine layout. My father passed away last year in April and next Wednesday would be his birthday. So I decided to make a layout using one of the first photos of me and with parents.

I started with the mixed media part of my layout . I painted watercolor paper using the Shimmerz Paints which are included in the December Color Kit. Then I added some stamping , modeling paste and finally some color splatters. Then I let the paper dry .
Here you can see the final result. I’m really happy with how it turned out. Then I took my punches and metal dies to cut out lots of hearts The base of my layout is a piece of cardstock (10 by ten inches) which I backed with another piece of white cardstock , so the layout got a kind of frame where I could place the stitching later.
Then I made an envelope from a piece of the Hip Kit Club Exclusive – Keeping Cozy – Photo Gallery paper and placed it at the bottom of my page. I inserted my photo layered with pieces of the Keeping Cozy Pretty Floral paper and I embellished it with some floral die cuts from the exclusive Keeping Cozy – Floral Ephemera pack, which is included in the December Embellishment Kit, one of the exclusive Keeping Cozy Bowes (included in the December Embellishment Kit), some chipboard pieces and some of my mixed media hearts.For the title I chose one of the die cut phrases from the Ephemera pack which s include in the December Main Kit.)
I arranged all the mixed media hearts around the envelope , sorted by colors. I also added some puffy phrase stickers which you can find in the December Pocket Life Kit, black color splatters and some enamel dots (included in the December Main Kit.)
Finally I added some stitching to each corner of my layout. I don’t have yellow twine so I colored white twine using yellow Shimmerz Spray from an older kit. I really love how the layout turned out and I hope you like it too. Thanks so much for stopping by today.
