Mixed Media Monday

Hi, my HKC friends! Francesca is here! Today I want to tell you how I made this mixed media layout. The today theme is “Shadow”. I used the “mandala” cut file (you will find it in October 2020 cut file) as a stencil to realize the background elements.

Want to create layouts like this? Our monthly kits include coordinated papers, embellishments, and supplies to bring your scrapbook pages to life.

With distress oxide on the white bazzil (of the October 2020 cardstock kit) I made a shade with shadow effects of the mandala. I wasn’t able to decide if I should use only the cut file shaded or the negative on the white bazzil. So I thought I could cut the negative and use them both.

For the background I used Wild Rose patterned paper from the Fresh bouquet by Crate paper because I love the contrast with all these colours. In the center of mandala I inserted the picture of my lovely children cut in a circle and I created the cluster putting together many embellishments (among them the flowers from Flower ephemera set by Jen hadfield and Cozy days stickers and foam by Simple stories that you will find in the main kit and some embellishments from the October 2020 kit).

I adore this powerfully coloured effect on a blue background … don’t you? You will really be able to create amazing projects and have so much fun with these wonderful kits. So if you haven’t already done it, I invite you to take a look on the website so you won’t miss the next kits! I hope I have kept you in good company and given you some colours in these sad times for our world. See you soon

Francesca
