Mixed Media Monday | 4th Grade | Jana McCarthy

Hi everyone, Jana back again and i have a fun new layout to share. Today is Mixed Media Monday and we were asked to use some border punches on our projects. I am still working with the awesome May 2020 HipKits and i really had fun today…

I started with my mixed media background. I grabbed one of the Vicki Boutin stencils, from the May 2020 Color Kit, my super heavy gesso and some tiny art stones from my stash. I added the art stones to the wet gesso and let everything dry. Once it was dry i started to play with watercolor. I used the Prima Tropical Set that we got in a color kit two years ago…

Look at the fun texture from the art stones….
Once the Background was ready to go i grabbed some patterned papers and some of my border punches. I decided to go with that cute scallop border and a notebook border, but somehow i´ve lost the notebook paper pieces as i was making this layout…

The picture shows my little one, the last picture we took for his teacher in 4th grade, the last months were very tricky for him too but only a few days left in this class and summer break starts… my little big boy!
As you can see i ripped the black and white striped paper for some more texture. I layered all the papers on top of the mixed media work, but you can still see it…

I grabbed some cute stickers, some The Stamp Market tags, frames and die cuts and created a colorful cluster around my photo. There are some layered pieces behind it and i really like how the Amy T. glitter foam frame looks on top.

I used the gorgeous Pink Paislee holographic alphas for my title and finished my layout with some more little stickers and splatters.

I really love how it turned out and i hope that you´re inspired to add some extra texture on your next project.
