Hey Sugar Scrapbook Layout | Elsie Robinson

Hey friends, it’s Elsie here with a layout using the April 2020 kits. For today’s post I was challenged to focus on two products of my own choosing. I chose the Maggie Holmes Sweet Story ephemera (from the Main Kit) and the chipboard from the Embellishment kit. And since I had loads of the ‘sweet’ embellishments leftover, I decided to use the majority of them in this fun design!

The design for this page was super simple. I started by choosing the pink polkadot pattern (from the Crate Paper ‘Shortcake’ paper) as my background and I used a compass to draw a large circle in the centre of my page. I hand-stitched around that circle with some white thread, and then I very messily machine stitching several circles to give even more texture.

I then added embellishments in along that circle, using the hand-stitched circle as my guide. I made sure I had a nice balance of colours and design around the circle, for example, I made sure not to put two strawberry embellishments next to each other.

I popped most of the embellishments up on some foam dots, even the chipboard, which creates some really lovely dimension and interest.

The Sweet Story ephemera pack has some acetate embellishments in it, which I always find a bit more difficult to use. But I loved how the ‘Hey Sugar’ title looked above my photo and I also really like how you can see the polkadot background pattern through it, which adds a really lovely detail.

And finally, I used some of the larger embellishments to help highlight my photo. I placed the gumball machine and ice cream die-cuts on either side, and I even used that cute dog acetate die-cut since I was scrapping a photo of my sweet pup!

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you’re inspired to create a “sweet” page of your own using the April kits!
