Hi Friends! I’m sharing a Pocket Life spread featuring the April 2020 Hip Kits. I’m working with patterned papers and embellishments from the April Main Kit and cards from the April Pocket Life Kit. This year, I’m using a 12×12” Pocket Life format to record the main events and details of our family. I’m including different styles and sizes of pocket pages to be able to incorporate the cards we get every month in our Pocket Life kits and some 12×12’ layouts I’m creating here and there. One thing I love about the Project Life system is it allows me to work chronologically. I can add photos and journaling every month and go back every year and see things that happened in past years as well as understanding my scrapbooking and documenting style at that time.
This is a spread documenting a couple of different days in April. I wanted to add a lot of pink and flowers and found the perfect pictures to go with that. You can also find a lot of dimension throughout the spread. There are many layers created by adding details directly to the cards and even on top of the page protectors as well as a shaker card using the center of one of the April Pocket life cards as the window.
I wanted it to be a happy spread. Kids were having fun together that day and we’ve been taking our dog Astro on family walks more regularly so I needed to document all that. So, let’s start by breaking this up into sections.
On the left side, we have a 6×12” spread. I used the holographic alphas from the April Pocket Life Kit and machined stitched the word crazy to the month card to add dimension and interest to the title. At the bottom, I used two 3×4” pieces of Crate Paper patterned paper. I cut one of the pocket life cards with a sentiment and added it on top of the page protector with a butterfly sticker. To finish this page, I printed a 4×3” photo and used patterned paper from the Main kit as a background.
On the right spread, I decorated the two top two sections using patterned paper on the top left corner and a floral pattern pocket life card on the right. I cut one card to get the blue square I used as a centerpiece and added two floral stickers and a chipboard floral sticker to embellish the card. The happy sticker is from the Carta Bella chipboard stickers and it’s glued to the page protector for more dimension.
The middle section of the page is decorated using two pocket life cards and two photos. To create the first card, I fussy cut the sentiments from one pocket life card and added adhesive foam to place it at the center of a flower wreath on a second card. The right card is only used for journaling and I added a butterfly sticker on top of the page protector to be able to play with the wings.
On the bottom row, I used one 4×6” pocket life card and cut the center to create a colorful shaker. I fussy cut the TODAY sentiment from a smaller card and added it at the center using some adhesive foam. I used a 4×6” piece of patterned paper to create a second card, fussy cut a hot air balloon from a pocket life card as well as one from the Maggie Holmes patterned paper, and trimmed down and glued a pocket life card for the journaling. I machined stitched through the journaling card to add dimension and interest.
