Hi there. I am so thrilled to be part of the Hip Kit Club family. Kimberly and the rest of the team have made me feel very welcome (although I’m rather in awe). Whilst I wait for my kit to arrive, I have used just what I have on hand – 3 sheets of patterned paper and white cardstock. I love a good challenge!
The free monthly cut files are a fantastic resource. For a change, I used February’s fabulous Rainbow cut file as a stencil. I cut it out of some cardstock and lightly secured it place with washi tape while colouring. I used Distress Oxide inks to colour – I used Picked Raspberry, Abandoned Coral, Worn Lipstick and Tattered Rose. To ensure that my colours didn’t overlap, I removed only 1 beam at a time which I replaced when moving onto the next colour.
Once I had sponged the ink in the main rainbow, I used the same colours mixed with water to add the ‘drips’ at the end of the rainbow. For a little definition, I lightly outlined the rainbow with grey fineliner.
The Paint Brush is also part of the February cut files. To give the paintbrush the appearance of having painted the rainbow, I sized it to matched the width of the rainbow. I added more ink runs on the brush. I love how it turned out! To finish off the brush I tied a little ribbon from my stash.
The January Main Kit has two papers from the Super Cool collection (Pink Fresh Studio). Be Right Back has cute speech bubbles and phones which I fussy cut – they are the perfect embellishment for my fun Snap Chat photo. I also cut out a few hearts from the Pink Paislee Bloom Street #6 which is part of the March Main Kit. I layered them on foam tape for a little dimension. To finish, I hand-stitched around the background for a little more detail.
I do hope that I have inspired you to used the last pieces of your stash. Fussy cutting is a great way to make your kit go further.
Thank you so much for popping in.
