Hey folks, it’s Elsie here! Today I’m sharing the first few pages and cover of my December album, using the incredible November 2019 kits. I also was inspired by this week’s sketch, so let me talk you through everything!
I’ll start with my album title page since that was directly inspired by the sketch. I was really inspired by the three large blocks for photos/embellishments on the sketch. And for some reason, the thought of creating a stack of presents immediately came to me, so I rotated the sketch 90º and followed a similar design!
To create the stack of presents, I cut random squares/rectangles from some of my favourite patterned papers and arranged them in a way I liked. I decorated each present with ribbons, string and the fabric bows (from the Main Kit). And like the sketch dictates, I placed my ‘It’s Christmas’ puffy sticker title, to the right of the presents.
On the reverse side, I backed the presents with this HKC exclusive woodgrain pattern and added a puffy sticker title (from the Embellishment Kit) and I will eventually use this space to do some journalling.
I really liked the idea of creating a hidden scene that’s revealed when you flip the title page over. So on some vellum I added a mouse die-cut and a few tree die-cuts (both from the Main kit) to create a snowy slope that the mouse is sledging down on! I also placed the speech bubble title on this piece of vellum, and I love how it looks like the mouse is also saying ‘it’s Christmas’!
On the next page I cut down this snowflake transparency sheet (from the December Documented kit). It’s super bright and holographic, so the vellum helped tone it down.
For the inside cover, I created another little snowy scene. I scraped some white modelling paste through the snowflake stencil (from the December Documented kit) onto some white paper to create a snowy bank. I added several more tree die-cuts and a little house chipboard sticker (from the Main kit) to create the scene. I also only adhered the the snowy bank on two sides, making the bank into a pocket which I can add photos and ephemera etc into.
I kept the cover very simple. I covered it with this cute pink pattern paper and I also added some gold book corners from my stash, which will protect the corners of the album to make sure nothing rips or gets damaged. I only added a frame, a floral die-cut and a puffy sticker title to decorate because I didn’t think I should go too crazy since the album will be filled with all the gorgeous goodies from the November kits!
Thanks for stopping by, I hope you’re also inspired to start your December albums!
