LIL’ CUTIE SKETCH LAYOUT | DANIELLE MENAGE-JENSEN

Hey lovely people!

It’s Danielle here today with my latest layout using the new September 2019 kit. It’s Friday and that means it’s sketch challenge day – woop! The sketch that I’ve been challenged to use is by the fabulous Ashley Horton and it’s heart-tastic!

Ashley’s sketch has a beautiful big love heart surrounded by smaller hearts – so cute. Sadly I don’t own a swish die cutting machine, so I decided to create something with a heart-shaped punch that would still create as big an impact.

We were also challenged to use a white cardstock background so I knew I wanted to use quite a few papers to give my foreground some razzle-dazzle. I set to work picking my favourite papers from the Dear Lizzy She’s Magic collection, that was pretty hard work, as they’re all so beautiful. I finally decided on a few and added one paper from Jen Hadfield’s In The Family collection and punched out seven sets of hearts in different colours.

I then grabbed a sheet of Bazzill vellum from the cardstock kit and punched out seven sets of hearts again. Then I got to work layering my vellum on top of my paper and stapling the sheets together. I pinched either side of the vellum and pulled it upwards to create butterfly wings (sort of). That way you get a nice layered effect.

I found a few choppy little off-cuts of paper and layered them behind my photograph featuring my cute cat Clem – isn’t she gorgeous! I roughed up the edges of my papers and stuck them on top of the little hearts using foam pads.

Embellishment time! I cut off a branding strip from the navy daisy paper, added it to the top of my layout along with a few stickers from the Dear Lizzy sticker sheet in the Pocket Life kit. I added my date stamp and a few more stickers to my photo cluster – that little blue cat was too sweet to leave on the sheet!!

Finally I added my title using the wonderful Thickers stickers from the main kit and I was finished – it’s a fun little layout from a fun sketch and I’m happy with the end result.
