Hey friends! I am so excited to be here with my very first blog post sharing two cards for Mixed Media Monday.

I was supposed to create a project using the September 2019 Color Kit. Unfortunately, my Color Kit didn’t arrive yet so, I managed with similar products I had in my stash and the August 2019 Main Kit.

Looking for card making supplies? Browse our monthly kits - each one includes coordinated papers, stamps, and embellishments perfect for handmade cards.
One of my preferred mixed media technique is creating colorful backgrounds. In my first card, I tried to duplicate the colors of the beautiful wreath from Truly Grateful collection using a few powdered pigments.

I used the powder as they are and also mixed together to create secondary colors. For example, to create purple I mixed blue and red. Then, I added just a bit of water and colored the card with the packaging technique.

For extra texture, I added some stars using a stencil and white modelling paste the bottom of the card.
I did the same colorful background on the second card and added a layering of embellishments on top. I used some pumpkin die-cuts plus fussy cut leaves and a butterfly, all from August 2019 Main Kit.

Here is another view. The sentiments of both the cards are die-cuts from Pretty Little Studio Be Bold Frame pack. I think they are just perfect because the black words pop out so well on colorful backgrounds.

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you like the project and feel inspired to create with Hip Kit Club Color Kits.
