Hi Hip Kit friends, Jodie with you today and I’m playing along with this week’s sketch created by the lovely Tanya Hubbard.
The sketch calls for a large cut file (or die cut) in the background, and I went with the August Globe subscriber cut file. Since the DT is flipping the sketch today, I altered the cut file just a little by removing its stand. By doing this it’s converted to a circle with a geometric-patterned centre and fills the pages of my TN more.
I added some splatters of purple watercolour paint to my white cardstock background and then backed some of the triangles in the cut file with papers from the Paige Evans Truly Grateful #14 paper (found in both the Main and Paper kits), which has 2×2 inch squares of the patterns in the collection. I love how Paige does this, its such a great sample of the full collection if you don’t plan on buying it in its entirety.
I used gold thread to machine stitch the cut file in place, and as another way to flip the sketch I placed my embellishment clusters and photo around the edges of the layout rather than in the centre like the sketch.
I used lots of the die cuts from the Truly Grateful collection to embellish, as well as some fussy cut leaves, and some puffy stickers from Pinkfresh Studio Office Hours collection from the Pocket Life Kit. I used my Cropodile to punch some holes in either side of the ‘Remember’ puffy tag so that I could thread some cotton through them and trail it across my page. Love how that looks!
I finished off my page with some more splatters in purple watercolour and Gold Colourshine.
Happy Friday and thanks for stopping by today guys, be sure to head over to the Hip Kits Member Group on Facebook to join in the weekly sketch, there’s a gift voucher for the Hip Kit shop up for grabs!
