Cutfiles and fussy-cutting – Tropical cards / Lisa Fonseca

Hey friends,

I’m here today to share some very cute tropical cards with you.

So my assignment for this week was “cut files and fussy-cutting”. I went through all the exclusive cut files from July and found this one that included the word “paradise”, a flamingo and a pineapple. So I thought it would be a great idea to use the three of them, since they had the same theme and I love making cards that match and look like they’re from the same collection.

I started by cutting out all of the shapes with my silhouette. For the pineapple and the flamingo I used white cardstock (Cardstock Kit) and for the word “paradise”, I used there different papers. A yellow patterned paper (Main Kit, Paper Kit) and a pink and orange cardstock (Cardstock Kit). I then layered the three pieces on top of each other, shifting them slightly, so that you would see the three colors. I love that effect.

Then I added some white details on each letter. I used a purple cardstock (Cardstock Kit) for my base and adhered it on some yellow patterned paper (Main Kit, Paper Kit) to have a border. As always, I took a pen and drew some scribbly lines around the borders.

I fussy-cut a lot of flowers from two of the patterned papers (Main Kit, Paper Kit) and also used some ephemera pieces to decorate the card. To finish the cards, I added some splatters and some pretty enamel dots (Pocket Life Kit).

For my second card, I backed my flamingo with patterned paper (Main Kit, Paper Kit), and placed it on some blue cardstock (Cardstock Kit). I also adhered that blue base on some other patterned paper to create a border again. To embellish the card, I used fussy-cut flowers and also some flowers from the exclusive flower ephemera (Embellishment Kit).

I wanted to add a sentiment and used the beautiful gold Dear Lizzy thickers (Embellishment Kit) and some Pinkfresh Studio mini alphas (Main Kit). At the end, I also added some enamel dots.

The third card is my favorite one! 🙂

As I wanted my three cards to match, I used the same papers I used on the “Paradise” card to back my pineapple and I used the same paper I had used to back my flamingo, as a base for this card. To make a border, I used some orange cardstock this time. I used the rest of the flowers I had fussy-cut and placed them on the card to decorate.

For the centres of some of the flowers, I used some rhinestone brads from Carta Bella (Embellishment Kit), I think that looks so cool!! 🙂 I also used a puffy word sticker from Pinkfresh Studio (Main Kit) as my sentiment.

I really love how the cards turned out and I had a lot of fun making them! 🙂

Thank you so much for being here! Lisa
