Hi everyone and welcome to this week’s Sketch Friday post! It’s Elsie here again with another layout using the wonderful June 2019 kits. For today’s layout I created a page with a ‘vacation’ theme based on this fun sketch from Lisa Fonseca…
As per the sketch, I created a large paper-pieced element as the focal point of my page. I decided to create a fun little campervan since this kit has a very summer-y/vacation vibe. The campervan was a very simple image to piece together, so I think it would be a great image to create if you’re a paper-piecing novice!
I even used some embellishments to add the finishing touches to the campervan. I used some holographic star Vicki Boutin chipboard stickers (from the Embellishment kit) as the campervan headlights, and a phrase sticker as the number plate! I also used one of the Vicki Boutin embossed puffy circle stickers in place of the classic VW logo!
Although the sketch calls for a mixed media background, I didn’t feel like getting messy when creating this page, so I opted to use the gorgeous Vicki Boutin ‘Look Up’ paper as my background. The cloud pattern makes the perfect background paper!
To embellish I used one of the Shimelle Holographic foam thickers as my title; I love how it nestles perfectly on top of the campervan! Instead of using the Vicki Boutom leaf die-cuts (from the ephemera pack in the Main kit) as leafs, I thought they looked a little like trees so I placed them vertically on the ‘horizon line’ to help create my summer-y scene!
Also from that same ephemera pack were three large banners, so I decided to place them across the top of my page for some extra pops of colour.
And finally because the sketch has some florals on it, I fussy-cut some floral clusters from the Simple Stories ‘Let’s Escape’ paper and placed them around the campervan and photo to create an even more fun and tropical vibe!
Thanks for stopping by, I hope you’re inspired to create something with this week’s sketch!
