Hej everyone! It’s Martina back again with some fun and magical cards, using the absolutely gorgeous Hip Kit Club April 2019 Kits.
As soon as I got my handy on the April Kits, I knew that I’d like to create some cards using the Magicals which are included in the April 2019 Color Kit. There are SO many ways to use them, but for today, I’m focusing on one of the easiest (and magical-est) techniques with them.
If you’d like to join me, grab a piece of (heavy) paper (I’m using a scrap piece of water color paper here), a water sprayer, a brush (i love using a fan brush since this allows me to apply tiny amounts of the powder onto a big area) and a pot of Lindy’s Stamp Gang Magicals.
(And – don’t forget to protect your working surface! I always put a big piece of tissue paper under my little glass mat when I’m working with Magicals because they are dye based and will stain everything porous!)
To avoid extreme warping of the paper, I usually spray one or two times onto my working surface, before I put my paper down and start sprayig onto it.
(In my experience, you get the best results with this technique, if you are using papers that are made for wetter techniques like aquarelle or mixed media. I have tried it with Bazzil Marsmallow cardstock from a previous HKC Cardstock Kit too and am using this piece of Magic for one of my cards later in this post to show it to you!)
After this quick and easy preparations, you’re ready to create some magic!
Just dip the dry brush slightly into the powder (a tiny amount goes a long way!)
and apply the powder onto the wet paper. I usually just dab onto the handle of the brush.
There are beautiful little color explosions, where the powder and water meet!
Apply as much powder as you like. You can also spray some more water onto the paper to activate more of these little color explosions. The more water you add, the more “flowing” happens.
(You might have to make some attempts to find the amount of color and water that works well with the paper you are using and gives you a result that pleases you!)
This is the result of my demo-piece:
Of course, I had to create some cards with my first April-Magicals backgrounds. And I had(!) to create something with the wonderful Paige Evans #3 Paper which is included in the April2019 Paper Kit.
I have created three cards that I’d like to show you.
The first one is based on a piece of Bazzil Serenity Cradstock from the April 2019 Cardstock Kit. I have glued down the earlier mentioned piece of Bazzil Marshmallow Cardstock on which I have tried the Magicals (Fuzzy Navel Peach), as a background.
To embellish the card, I have arranged one of the Paige Evans Horizon Tags from the April 2019 Main Kit with the embossed die cut flowers from Maggie Homes Sunny Days (April 2019 Embellishment Kit) and one of the 2×2 Horizon-papers that are included in the April2019 Pocket Life Kit.
For my second card, I have cut a piece of Bazzil Wisteria Cardstock to a card base. After that, I gathered my courage and punched some 1″ circles out of the Paige Evans Horizon #3 paper to create this rainbow-circle-centerpiece on my card.
To finish the card, I added some golden splatters, a Paige Evans Horizon Cardstock Sticker whick I have mounted with foam pads, a Maggie Holmes Sunny Days Charm and some HKC Exclusive Puppy Heart Stickers.
For my third card, I created a card base with a piece of Bazzil Tutu Pink Cardstock and have sewn on a piece of the Paige Evans Sun Burst Paper.
To add a bit ‘more’ to the Dear Lizzy It’s All Good Embellishments, I have punched out some hearts from another Magicals test paper (this time ‘Pink Ladies Pink’) and arranged them behind the layered sticker.
I hope you enjoyed this little tutorial and my cards and are inspired to create your own magic!
Have a wonderful weekend!
