Sketch Day | Michelle Wedertz

Happy Sketch Day Hip Kit friends!  Michelle here with today to share this week’s brand new sketch. Sketch day is always my favorite–I love it when someone else does the work for me! LOL! Actually, sketches are always welcome in my crafting space because with three busy kids and working part time I am always strapped for free time and a sketch helps me jump right into creating! Here’s the sketch we are working with this week:

This is such a great sketch because it has room for multiple photos which makes it easier to a story with several photos. With that being said though, when I sat down to work with the photos that I had wanted to use on this page, I couldn’t make them fit the sketch. My pictures were two 3×4 and they were overwhelming my 9×12 layout. Instead of getting frustrated, I decided to make the sketch work for me, so I flipped, eliminated one of my photos and came up with this:

Sunny and Bright 1

By flipping the sketch I was able to make my vertical photo work. I kept the big title stretching across the top and replaced some of the photos with tags. In place of the flowers, I substituted butterflies that I cut from one of the patterned papers in the March Scrapbook Kit.

Sunny and Bright 2

Not only did I stitch across the top of the patterned paper, but added some pink thread to  a tag and under the photo. Since I used minimal adhesive to place the butterflies, I went ahead and stapled them with my tiny attacher to make sure they stay in place.
