Hello friends!! It’s Ashley, and I’m so excited to share my first Blog post with you, and be back on the HKC Design Team! I had so much fun working with the February 2019 Main Kit, which includes some gorgeous Pinkfresh Studio, Carta Bella and Crate Paper products. I combined some of the Pinkfresh Studio and Carta Bella products with Vellum and circle punches to create a fun, shaker element on my layout.
I started my layout, by cutting an 8 inch circle from Vellum. Then, I cut one of the large wreath images from the Pinkfresh Studio Joyful Day Big Ideas patterned paper. I placed it in the center of my Vellum and then placed the two pieces on my background paper. Next, I machine stitched around the outer edge of the circle cut from the patterned paper.
Once the circles were in place, I pulled a few papers from the Kit, that I had already used on other layouts. I used two of my punches, a one inch circle and a single hole punch, to create confetti to go inside the Vellum. This is a great way to use up scraps of patterned paper, that might be left over from your kits! I placed all of the punched confetti pieces inside the Vellum, and closed in the shaker, by stitching along the outside edge.
Since I had a circle theme going on with the Vellum and punched confetti, I decided to continue that look on the rest of my layout. I cropped my photo into a circle and used my Cameo to cut it out in the circle shape. I also used my one inch and two inch punches, to get a few more circles from the Big Ideas patterned paper. Because of the placement of my shaker circle, I thought it would look great to add the other punched circles and my photo in a diagonal, going across the layout.
After getting all of my main elements in place, I chose a few embellishments from the kit, that were also in the shape of a circle. The layered stickers, wood buttons and enamel dots from the Pinkfresh Studio Joyful Day Mixed Embellishment Pack worked perfectly with all of the other circles on my layout!
