Happy Friday Everyone! I’m here today with a sketch inspired layout.
Using the beautiful Hip Kit Club January Kits, I have been working with the Sketch that Niki Rowland created for us.
When I first got my eyes on the sketch I had this Idea of patterned paper hearts and a nice packaging-technique coloured background.
But as you can see, I got carried away. Not really much away from the sketch I think – There is this big heart and lots of smaller hearts (HKC Cutfiles). The photo is layered and also placed in a similar spot as on the sketch.
There still is a coloured backround. Not watercolored or added with the packeging technique but I dabbed some of the red Color Bloom Mist through the Echo Park Stencil (January Color Kit)
I changed the position of the title and added my journaling directly into the big heart since that just felt right.
Because there is a lot of black on my photo, I tried to bring some more of it in.
It was a good opportunity to colour the blue “happy” (Crate Accent Thickers from the January Embellishment Kit) into a black one. It surely did its job in including some more black inot my layout but also calmed the title a bit more down which is a welcomed side effect.
I liked the idea of a second heart but didn’t like another really big one on my design – that’s why I have choosen the pink Heart which also came in the January Embellishment Kit.
To give the big heart some extra, I framed it with Pinkfresh Studio Puffy Stickers and Ephemera from the January Main and Embellishment Kits as well as some Fussy Cut Flowers from the HKC Printables that Kim created for January.
As a last finishing touch I glued one of the HKC Exclusive Flair Badges that just sums the story I’m telling perfectly up.
Here is the full and finished layout:
