Sketch Layout | Kathleen Graumüller

Hey friends, it’s Kathleen back with you today and since it’s Friday, it’s time for another sketch! The sketch for today was made by my lovely DT colleague Michelle Wedertz and I love that it leaves so much room for interpretation and changing things up.

So before I show you my take on it, let’s have a look at the sketch. You could easily turn it by 90° or resize the different elements, for example.

As you can see below, I stuck the this sketch quite literally and only changed a few things, like the placement of my journaling, for instance. Also, for me, things like the snowflakes on this sketch don’t mean that I have to use actual snowflakes.

They just show you where you can place your elements. So you could substitute the snowflakes with hearts, flowers, stars, circles, different kinds of embellishments, etc. A sketch is only there to jumpstart your creativity, so don’t feel like you have to keep every single thing the way it is on the sketch. Play with it! 🙂

For my page I used the beautiful November 2018 Main Kit and the Embellishment Kit. My two favorite papers in the Main kit were the Hip Kit Club exclusive paper with the dark blue gingham pattern, and that Heidi Swapp “Emerson Lane” floral paper. The colors are just gorgeous and I love the contrast of the dark blue with those soft pinks and the mustard yellow.

The dark background also helped to make my photo really stand out, and the soft pink of the flowers complement my photo very well.

Instead of the snowflakes on the sketch I mostly used floral die cuts from the Emerson Lane ephemera pack (from the Embellishment Kit) and also mixed in some of the exclusive Puffy Stickers (also from the Embellishment Kit).

For my title I used one of the exclusive wood veneer stickers that says “remember” and then placed the “you are loved” hexagon sticker from the Heidi Swapp Emerson Lane cardstock stickers (Main Kit) next to it, so that my title technically reads “remember you are loved”. At the top of my layout I used another piece of the exclusive wood veneer stickers.

For some added detail, I also scattered some of the Echo Park enamel dots and a few of the Hip Kit exclusive puffy stickers around the page and then splattered some Heidi Swapp gold color shine to repeat the gold from my journaling.

I am very happy with this layout, mostly because of the photo (haha) but also because I really love all of the papers and elements on this page. This color combination is just really striking and kind of timeless to me.

I hope you like this layout and maybe use this sketch as inspiration for a layout, too! Thanks a lot for stopping by and have a great weekend!

Kathleen
