Hello everyone! Christina here (again), sharing a new layout using the gorgeous Hip Kit Club November 2018 Main & Embellishment Kit, based on this month’s moodboard. For this layout, I was inspired by the photo of the christmas tree made of wooden sticks. So I thought I’d recreate this, but with paper strips.
So I started by cutting several paper strips from the beautiful striped paper from the Heidi Swapp Emerson Lane collection, but then noticed that the strips wouldn’t be long enough for the design I had in mind, so I had to change it a little bit.
Instead of loosely arranging them like I had in mind, I layered them in a triangular shape, distressing the edges of the strips with a scissors and some distress ink before glueing them down.
I then clustered a couple of embellishments like some flower ephemera and the pink and yellow tag from the Emerson Lane collection, the HKC exclusive Leaf Acetate Die Cuts and the Home Sweet Home Puffy Stickers designed by Kim Watson (also HKC exclusives) around my photo.
(And yes, that’s me as a kid. Actually I never noticed that my favorite doll of all times and I had the same hairstyle. And I can’t remember who had it first – me or the doll…?)
Then, I added the title by combining the “memory” Wood Veneer Sticker, the Gold Foil Alphabet Thickers and the transparent “8” and “0” from the Emerson Lane Ephemera pack (I glued them down on white cardstock first and then fussy cut around them, to make them “popp” on the layout a little better).
Finally, I arranged some flowers and leaves plus a small baner in the top right corner, because it felt a little blank and I wanted to balance the layout.
That’s it for today, my crafty friends! Have a wonderful Sunday!
XOXO,
Christina
