The journaling cards in the October PL Kit are hands down my favorite set ever! Seriously though, I think Hip Kit hits it out of the park every month, but October was a whole other level for me. With the beautiful and fresh autumnal colors and the cutest leaf motifs–I was in heaven!

In my neck of the woods, fall doesn’t really come around until November, but  I was still able to capture some of the colors and themes of fall as we went about our week in early October.

The “October” 4 x 6 journaling card was a perfect way to start this page off and it had lots of room to tell the story of how we gave our kitten extra cuddles before a morning drop off at the vet. I added the “stories” with the fun Thickers included in the PL kit–their size and color contrasted perfectly with the bigger script. To add just a touch of detail I stitched two wonky lines down the left side.

As I was working my way through this layout I kept thumbing through my embellishments, but I ended up keeping my embellishing pretty minimal. I thought that the fun colors and busy photos needed that extra simplicity to balance the page and that’s what I ended up going with. Really though, the cards this month were beautiful and perfectly capable of standing on their own!
