Autumn Vibes layout using a cut file | Jung

Hello crafty friends!  I hope you are well!

For today, I was challenged to make an autumn layout using a cut file, so that’s what I will be sharing.  I am using the October 2018 Hip Kits.  I am using the Main kit, Cardstock kit, Embellishment kit, and Project Life kit.  I am also using an October cut file, which you can access here once you’ve logged in to your account;  I am using the Autumn Vibes Subscriber cut file, designed by Kim Watson.

When I was in high school, living in the South, fall meant football season.  I was in the marching band, and I have so many fun memories of sitting in the stadium…so happy when the weather got chilly because it meant we could have hot chocolate, cheering on our football team playing fan favorite tunes.  It’s come full circle for me, as my daughter is now entering this season of her life.  She’s only in middle school now, but she’s in band and on the dance team, so she’s at the football games.  Now, I get to experience these games in a new way, as a parent, and perhaps a chaperone.

Back to the layout:  I die cut the sentiment, my title, out of the Arroyo cardstock from the kit.  I knew I wanted a vertical layout, so I added some mixed media to the background down the middle of my paper.  I added some shimmerz splatters from older color kits, and I also used a paint brush to paint on a little bit of color where my photo will be placed.  Then, I used a stencil from a previous color kit to add some white embossing paste for a tone on tone look.

Next, I chose some flowers and leaves from the Paige Evans whimsical floral embellishment pack to frame my photo.  I fussy cut some of the labels from the PE Whimsical 08 paper, and machine stitched them on my layout.  I also used some of the Jen Hadfield phrase stickers.

Then, I just looked for little embellishments to fill in some of the spots on my layout.  I used stickers, puffy stickers, and rub-ons for the PE whimsical collection.  I also used the Happy tag from the Vicki Boutin embellishment pack.

I added my journaling strips that I typed up on the computer.  When I was designing this layout, Kenny Chesney’s “The Boys of Fall” song popped into my head, so I did a little play on the lyrics, and made my journaling about the girls of fall.  I thought it was cute, but is it cheesy?  haha!

To finish off my layout, I just added a couple of torn edges on each side of the layout, backed it with pattern paper, and added machine stitching, a la Missy Whidden.

That’s it for me today friends!  I hope you liked my layout, and I hope you’re inspired to get crafting!  If you haven’t checkout out these kits yet, I highly encourage that you do!

Have a happy day!
