Hello Hip Kit friends, Kim here with a new project that not only uses discarded packaging, but also a few of the September cut files which is the main theme of the todays posts both here on the blog & on our company Facebook page.
I don’t know if you are like me, but I hate throwing away perfectly good packaging, & this month is no exception…so ease my guilt, I thought I’d do something about it LOL. I created pretty door hangers for my two ‘daughters’ from another Mama 😀
The idea is to tie a piece of organza ribbon through the keyhole into a bow at the top & hang it on their door handles. Each girl with a different hanger.
I love that the woodgrain is so versatile, allowing me to add a variety of embellishments without worry of patterns clashing. Also being packaging it is a heavier card quality, so can withstand the kind of handling one can expect from tween & teen girls.
Each hanger get’s the girl’s name at the top using foam & sticker alphas with similar decoration, but are completely different below, with a unique critter sticker to differentiate between the two.
White cut files, cut at a smaller size look great against the woodgrain backing card & help the florals & leaves really pop. I made sure to add lots of interest through dimension & white splatter.
Projects like these are also a great way to use up small bits left over from other projects… like the small fussy cut flowers and leaves. They might not be attached to a main cluster any more, but it doesn’t matter…stuck under a layer or slipped in between other pieces, only adds to the interest of the project.
Look how amazingly well the blue leaves help the other items to stand out as well as helping the yellow look extra vibrant!
Pretty clustering giving a playful, pretty vibe to door hangers, that are sure to make any girl smile. I can’t wait to give them to Erin & Callan on the weekend.
I hope you are inspired to make use of your extra packaging & leftover fussy cut bits like I did. Be sure to post your creations in our member group gallery, I’d love to see them.
Have an awesome day! ~Kim
