Hey friends…today I am cracking open my stunning August kits with a new project, a little mixed media & a whole lot of fabulous product.

This striped paper really caught my eye but alone it would have been to busy, so I cut the 12×12 sheet into a diagonal & stitched it onto a piece of white cardstock. Using the pretty blue Shimmers watercolor paint included in the August Color Kit, I created a fun mixed media mat.
The Shimmerz water color is AWESOME isn’t it?! Look at how shimmery it is & those layered edges…perfect, exactly what I needed to mat my paper, photo & embellishment cluster.
Those pom-pom frames are so cute…look at the amount of dimension is adds to my photo cluster & the pop of yellow is exactly the way to balance out the cool blues & greens.
I love the fact that at first glance, the August kits seem completely girly…but as you can see I achieved a great masculine page, with the right mixture of patterned papers & embellishments. That crepe paper fringe makes my heart so happy <3 and teamed with the black alphas, the punch makes this page super striking!
So the result is a funky, page capturing a sweet moment of my little family volunteering to pose for yet another photo….LOL. Even my cute pooch is compliant 😀 I am so thrilled with my 1st August kits layout, I can’t wait to see what you create with yours.
