You are Something Sweet by Kim Watson

Hi lovely Hip Kit Club friends, Kim here with a new project idea you are sure to find scrumptious. Inspired by the fruity colors in the July 2018 kits as well as the Geode Strawberry cut file I designed for July, this page sort of just put itself together.

I used white cardstock as my background, and then added a layer of white gesso before adding some of the Pinkfresh Studio Liquid Watercolors from the Color Kit .  Using the packaging technique I created a subtle mixed media background. I thought the blue color would add pretty contrast especially with the dominance of peach & pink in the layout.

A border of the graphic black & white citrus design paper & a fussy cut pink scallop grounds the design perfectly. Don’t you love the sketchy stars? The pretty colors look amazing against the blue background.

When putting the geode strawberry together, I began by filling the individual sections but in a genius moment thought why? HAHA! Then realised the gorgeous Pinkfresh Studio paper, “Happy Life”, would make my life so much easier without compromising the integrity of the design. It worked perfectly.

Then I created a layered, photo cluster using one of fabulous July PL cards, the dotty patterned packaging from behind the exclusive puffy alpha sets,  a few fussy cut flowers, exclusive ephemera & a sweet little felt bow.  Cute right?!

Lastly my title ended up becoming a mixture of a few thing, making it conversational. I absolutely adore the mini puffy alphas Kimberly designed for this month’s kit. They are perfect for this type of title, slipping easily into the ‘space’ next to the ‘h’ of the acrylic work ‘happy’. There is something so be said about having a kit perfectly coordinated together to work with. It really takes the angst out of my monthly scrapbooking; Hip Kit Club certainly knows their game.

Be sure to watch the process video for all the details. >>

I hope you are inspired to get crafting this weekend! Until next time…bye!
