Hello Hip Kit Club friends and welcome! It’s time for another installment of Sketch Friday! Jung and Corrie will be working with a fabulous sketch designed by fellow team member Michelle. Don’t forget to stop by the Hip Kit Club Facebook page and the Hip Kit Club Member Forum Facebook page to see what some of our other team members have created with this sketch!
JUNG:
Hey everyone! Happy Fri-YAY! Today, I have a Halloween layout for you. I like to get my Halloween photos scrapped as soon as I can…If I don’t, I forget about them with the hustle and bustle of the holidays, and they never get scrapped.
I love this sketch! It is very much my style, and perfect for my layout!
I used my October 2017 Main Kit, Embellishment kit , Color kit, and the cardstock I used is the Bazzill tutu pink from the cardstock kit.
I wanted to use one of the giant Dear Lizzy white chipboard words, as I hadn’t used any yet, and I thought “magical” was very fitting for a Halloween layout. I dressed it up with some mixed media. I used the Shimmerz Old Yeller Inkling with a bit of the packaging technique and I also painted with a small paint brush.
While the chipboard was drying, I got to work on my layout. Can you believe I only used one pattern paper on this layout? I loved both sides of the Pinkfresh Studio Escape the Ordinary paper in transform. I used the b&w side as my frame. Whenever I matte a layout on a piece of pattern paper, I always cut out the inside, so I can still use the paper. Do you do that too? Since I cut out the middle, I had enough left over to use on my layout. I punched some circles out of the b&w side, and I used the yellow floral side as a layer behind my photos.
Like the sketch, I used circles as embellishment spots on my layout. I looked for black and white elements within the kits to embellish the circles.
I hope you like my layout! I encourage you to play along with our sketch!
CORRIE:
Hey everyone! Sketch Fridays are the BEST! I am excited to share my take on the sketch with you. I have decided to “redo” my very first album because I missed the point and the STORY on every page. This take on the sketch is my redo of my very first page I ever scrapbooked.
I started this page using the watercolor paper and Shimmerz Watercolor in Lapis Dance that came in the October 2017 color kit. I love using the watercolor paper because it doesn’t buckle like card stock will. I printed three copies of the photo off of Facebook (because I could not find the original file) and found I had written about the day in the comments on the photo. Thank goodness I had real words from 2009 somewhere!
Then I cut out hearts from patterned papers in the October 2017 main kit and the project life cards from the project life kit and arranged them around my photos.
Last I added a heart and a little circle from a project life card that says “yes! it happened like this” to the bottom of the page.
I really like how it turned out. If you want to see the original page, watch my process video. It is so much better with the story.
And remember to play along with the sketch challenge on the Facebook Member Forum for a chance at the prize!!
Thanks for stopping by!
