Hello friends and welcome to the Hip Kit Club blog! It’s Jung here, and today I’m sharing a layout I made using the October 2017 Main kit and an exclusive cut file designed by fellow team member Jessica Fabiano. The roses cut file she designed works perfectly with the Jen Hadfield Heart of Home Gatherings pattern paper.
When I saw the cut file, and the floral pattern paper, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to scrap a photo of a wedding we went to a few months ago. I was debating whether I wanted to back the cut files with pattern paper, but in the end, I decided on white on white. I think it mimics and highlights the lace overlay on the bride’s dress. I also love how clean the white looks, and I’m a big fan of negative space.
I fussy cut lots of flowers from the Jen Hadfield paper: the roses, daisies, and the little blue flowers. That paper is made for fussy cutting! It took me a bit of time cutting all the little details, but I find that it helps to get the creative juices flowing.
I also gathered a few leaves from the Pinkfresh Studio Escape the Ordinary ephemera pack, and created bouquets of leaves and flowers around the bottom left and top right corners of the photo. I used foam squares on a few of the flowers to create lots of dimension.
I trimmed off a tiny bit of the white cardstock, and matted my layout on a piece of Dear Lizzy Stargazer pattern paper. To finish off my layout, I added my title, using an ephemera piece and the Hip Kit Club exclusive blue alpha. I also wrote out my journaling, and added just a hint of gold splatters.
I really love how all the details highlight the wedding photo. The wreath of roses in the cut file highlights the lace dress and frames my photo, and all the fussy cut flowers highlight the bouquet.
I hope you enjoyed my layout share today! Don’t forget to check out all the awesome kits on the Hip Kit Club site! Thanks for stopping by!
