Hey HKC fans, it’s Elsie here today with a layout using the September kits. We always have so many fabulous papers in each of our kits that it’s always tempting to use as many as we can in one go! However, I think it’s sometimes great to just use one paper and make it the “star” of a page (pun intended – ha!!).
I love paper 19 from Pink Paislee Turn The Page, and the stars on the ‘A’ side were just begging to be fussy-cut! After cutting them out I instinctively arranged them into a rainbow order and I loved the look so much that I decided to replicate that on my layout.
I did some cutting on my cameo as I knew I wanted some clouds on my page. I searched through the exclusive HKC cut files from previous months and found this beauty from May 2017 designed by Kim Watson. I separated some of the clouds the main design and cut the outline and the solid image from white cardstock. I love how cute and whimsical these clouds look with my design.
It took some time to figure out where I would place everything, but once I was ready to glue everything down I used some foam to pop some of the stars up so there would be more dimension and interest.
I went “old school” with my photo and cut around the outline of the subject and mounted the photo on some white cardstock. I did this for a couple of reasons, the first being that the background of the photo was very dark and made the layout look too busy, and the second was that it created a fun, whimsical, “pop art” kind of vibe which is very graphic and works well with the bold stars.
To embellish I grabbed any embellishment that matched the corresponding colours of the stars. I especially love the chipboard paper airplanes and I stitched some swirly flight paths for some extra cuteness!
Thanks for joining me today, I hope you’ve been inspired to use paper 19 from your kits to create a fun rainbow design!

Looks fun!
