Hello HKC fans. It’s time for another portion of mixed media fun. Today Anna, Corrie and Jana will inspire you with some colors and fun mixed media techniques.
Anna
Hi. It’s Anna here with my layout. As it’s mixed media day on HKC blog I went crazy with stamping, embossing and painting and created my own pattern paper. I was inspired by the pretty stamp set from “Turn the page” collection from September Embellishment Kit.
I stamped several flowers and butterflies and used white embossing powder to create water resist pattern. After that I spilled a little bit of few mists from Color Kit on the plastic plate and used them like watercolors. I love Shimmerz mists for a great color range and a big versatility of use.
I also picked this great bird house cut file designed by Zinia and over sized it. I added a shaker pocked inside the hear shaped hole and filled it with sequins from Embellishment Kit.
All the pretty pink papers are from Main Kit. I just love all new “Turn the page” collection by Page Evans. So many pretty elements.
I recently saw this fun quotation about family and wanted to use it on my page. Luckily, Hip Kits are always filled with beautiful alpha stickers, that are great to be mixed and matched. I combined pinkish exclusive puffy alphabet stickers from Embellishment Kit with some smaller ones from “Turn the page” sticker book included in the Project Life Kit.
That’s not all. I also recorded my scrappy process so you can follow me creating similar background.

Hey there everyone! Corrie here with some mixed media for you. I knew right away when I saw the star stencil in the September 2017 Color Kit that I would be using it for some mixed media on my pages. Who doesn’t love stars, right? Here is my page.
I started this page with the star stencil. I mixed together some light molding paste with some Caribbean Sunset Spritz from the color kit. The combo created a beautiful pink paste that I used with my stencil to make a dimensional star background on white card stock.
Then I took the top off the Tuscan Sun Spritz (which is my favorite) and used a paintbrush to just paint on the color around the pink stars.
Together, these created a fun whimsical look to my background.
My photo already had this gold and pink tone to it because of some great filters so I just added all the great stars that are included in the kits! I have used some stars from the Thickers in the September 2017 Embellishment Kit, one from the Turn the Page Decorative Paper Clips in the Project Life Kit, and some from the Turn the Page Chipboard Accent Thickers from the Main Kit.
I hope you enjoyed my use of stars and mixed media! Thanks for stopping by!
Jana
Hi everyone, i am so happy to share this Layout with you!
I grabbed some Shimmerzpaints Colors (all from HKC Kits) and had some fun! You´ll find some Enamel Hearts (Amy Tangeringe/American Crafts “Hustle&Heart”) in the September 2017 Main Kit and exactly these were my inspiration for my background!
I added some stars with the stencil from the Color Kit and some texture paste (from my stash) to get some movement over the Page!
After a while of creating i decided to go with the same colors for my embellishment, i really like tone on tone! But this was not as easy as i thought!
There was a lot of fussy cutting and looking into the Kits over and over again! But in the end i am very happy about how everything turned out!
The picture shows my little one, in the age of 3, eating a big slice of watermelon on a hot day. I don´t mind to use flowers, hearts and girl colors on a boy page!
I LOVE the glitter Foam Thicker words from the Embellishment Kit – also included the exclusive alpha stickers!
I added a black stamp right under the word Love and i really love how the black looks next to all the bright colors, so i grabbed some watercolors and added some tiny black splatters around the page! Really happy i did, it looks great, right?!
Here is my process video for you to watch!
What an amazing post with lots of beauties!
