Weekly sketch with Michelle and Felicity

Hey there lovely people, Felicity here 🙂

I’m pretty excited to share this layout today using the sketch from Hip Kit Club for the 15th September. How awesome is that star!

I knew me, being me, wouldn’t be able to pull off a pretty grand star like the sketch. So I saved myself the grey hair and wrinkles and left it up to some other talent design members!! pst, make sure you pop by the facebook forum to see more creations on this!!

HKC August 3d

Because that ‘star’ can be used as large element on the page, I went with pieced together circle. It turned out way better than I expected and actually came together quite quickly for me! I will put that down the awesome August kits!!

Because of my photo, i flipped the sketch which then allowed me to ‘place’ kites in my daughter hand and how could not add a beautiful big bow?  I then continued with the circle theme, by adding in some of the most gorgeous exclusive wooden buttons. They are pretty!! Self adhesive too!! 🙂

To keep the colour following through the layout, I then added in some shimmerz splatters from the products in the colour kit!  I then used the banner from the sticker sheet and cardstock sticker sheet to make an outline of the ‘wonky’ circle!! Yes, nothing is perfect with me, i will keep it that way 🙂 Its all about fun and documenting memories for me!

Make sure you share your beautiful work with the sketch and pop it in the forum!! 🙂

Here is my process video to see how this came together 🙂

MICHELLE

Hi, Michelle here with my interpretation of this week’s sketch to share with you as well today!

Sketch So Lovely

I decided that I was going to keep my layout quite close to the sketch and I really liked how the star shape offsets off the page.  I traced a basic star shape and cut it out on my Silhouette using the Patina Bazzill Cardstock from the August 2017 Cardstock Kit and chose the Chiffon Bazzill Cardstock as my background.  I love how both these colours create a soft ‘icecream’ colour scheme and to add a pop of colour I bordered these both onto the ‘Dazzle’ patterned paper from the Maggie Holmes Carousel collection.

I did adapt the sketch to use only one photo and added in the sweet ice-cream cart die cut and added layers under my photo with one of the August 2017 project life cards and also the ‘bingo’ die cut which you can see just the gold outline of under my photo.

I then had lots of fun adding in some embellishments from the kits.  I created a visual triangle with the mix of the gorgeous banner sticker and flag from the Maggie Holmes Accent Stickers and the ‘so lovely’ words at the top right and the lots of layered labelled stickers from the Pretty Little Studio Dream Big collection with die cuts, puffy stickers and the gold foil stickers (August 2017 Project Life Kit and August 2017 Main Kit).

Lastly, I added in some small embellishments with the exclusively designed wood veneer buttons and gold and green stars dotted around my page!

I hope you have enjoyed both mine and Felicity’s interpretation of the weekly sketch, I just love how sketches can be a starting point for creativity – I hope you play along with us this week!
