Hello Everbody!

Jennifer here with a new project featuring the August Hip Kits! My challenge for this week was to not use photos and I think this might actually be my first layout without any pictures. So it was quite a challenge indeed! But I prevailed.

I love going to the movies and I tend to keep my ticket stubs. There are ticket stubs dating back about ten years somewhere in my apartment. They are really nice keepsakes but I usually don’t use them for scrapbooking. But when I read my challenge I thought “Why not?”.

I recently went to a double feature with Luc Besson’s The Fifth Element and Valerian and decided to use those tickets for a layout. Also really great for scrapbooking are concert or theater tickets or even those little fabric wristbands you get when you visit a festival.

When I startet working on this layout I knew two things: I wanted to use that starry paper by Maggie Holmes from the August Main Kit because the tickets featured sci-fi movies and I wanted my layout to be cinema themed. So I decided to add a curtain around the layout and used the starry paper as a background.

To create my curtain I cut pieces from that striped Maggie Holmes paper that looked like drapes, glued them to pieces of white cardstock to make the sturdier and added a bit of hand stitching with gold thread. Then I used fun foam to give the curtrain a bit of dimension and glued everything into place. I added one of the striped fabric bows by Maggie Holmes from the August Embellishment Kit to the top where two pieces overlapped and two of those star sequins from the Maggie Holmes Carousel Ephemera pack to the narrow parts of the drapes.

As layering pieces I used two tags from the Ephemera pack and also added one of the banners, the ice cone, and popcorn die cuts as embellishments. I just had to include some of the puffy stickers – so I added some puffy hearts and stars and also one of this little banner pieces.

For the title I used the exclusive two toned alphas from the Embellishment Kit. And for the finishing touch: a few sprinkles of colored mist.

I had a lot of fun making this layout and I think it looks really cute. Have you tried scrapbooking without pictures?
