Hello friends, and Happy Monday! Missy here again, and I have a new layout to share using the 2017 June Hip Kits. My theme for today is “Feathers.” Kim Watson designed some really beautiful cut files this month, and there are two feathers included in them. I cut several out on my Cameo using four of the patterned papers in the Main Kit & Paper Kit. I used the Lilac Cardstock as my background and did some mixed media work on it. I first used white gesso and then used some of the Prima Watercolor Confections from last month’s Color Kit and a few Shimmerz and gelatos from my stash. I decided to layer the feathers horizontally to create some really awesome dimension and texture. There are no rules saying how to use the cut files, so use them however you see fit 🙂
I love how they look here, and the paint looks really neat peeking out from in between and behind them. I used one of the Amy Tangerine chipboard pieces from the Main Kit as my title and tucked in a darling little flamingo from the Crate Paper Sticker Sheet. I also machine stitched through each feather using metallic gold thread. I tucked in a gold glittery leaf Crate Paper sticker and an exclusive Hip Kit wood button right on top of the photos.
I also created a little cluster down towards the bottom using another chipboard piece, another Crate Paper sticker and another exclusive wood button. I added some aqua thread here to bring out the aqua in the photos. I love how this big title sticker looks. I have been struggling to make them work on a page, and this one finally did!
Above the photos, I added some pink and coral thread. I used a few of the Vicki Boutin frames from the Embellishment Kit and a Project Life card behind my photos as well as some tissue paper & adhesive foam.
I love this gold glitter! I hadn’t planned on adding any gold to the page until I decided to stitch on the feathers. I thought a touch of gold would really pop, so that allowed me to add a few other gold pieces around the page. I also added some splatters of Heidi Swapp Gold Color Shine.
Using cut files is a lot of fun, and when you cut several out like this it really helps your design come together quicker. They take up a lot of room, so once they were in place and the photos were in place, the rest of the page was simple embellishing.
I wrote my journaling down below with a metallic gold pen. I hadn’t added any black to the page, so I kept my journaling light and didn’t use a black pen. I like doing something different every once in a while 🙂
I hope this has given you some ideas you can try with our awesome cut files! Get creative and try something fun and new 🙂 I have a process video here for you, so be sure to check it out!
Thanks for stopping by, and have a great week!
