Happy Monday, everyone! Missy here again, and I’m sharing another layout using the 2017 March Hip Kits. Today we’re focusing on Creative Titles. I was immediately drawn to all those big and colorful words on the Shimelle patterned paper found in the Main Kit & Paper Kit. I decided to fussy cut FRIENDS out and start there. My photo is of me and my bestie, so “friends” was perfect. I combined “life” from the Shimelle stickers and “long” from the gold dotted Thickers, which are also all in the Main Kit. Mixing and matching colors, sizes and fonts is a great way to make your title stand out and become part of the design instead of just an after thought at the end of your creative process. I actually started with the title, and that dictated the rest of the layout.
To make FRIENDS stand out even more, I lightly traced around the edges with a black pen. I added in that cute shiny gold banner sticker from the Shimelle sticker sheet as well as that cute cloud. I used some white gesso and Shimmerz sprays on my background. I also used some of the Raspberry Sherbet Paste-eez from the Color Kit on the background as well.
For my embellishments around the photo, I combined a few die cut hearts from the Oh My Heart Ephemera pack with some Pinkfresh Studio items and a Shimelle sticker. I used all three kinds of Pinkfresh stickers here…the cardstock sentiments, a few leatherette stickers and some puffy stickers. I also used one of the rubber charms. I added in some tangled thread for an extra pop of color and texture. These are all found in either the Embellishment Kit, Main Kit and Project Life Kit.
Here’s another look at the title area. You can see the machine stitching along the sides and through a few of the stickers. I just love that banner sticker! That subtle metallic gold is so pretty.
My base background is the adorable house paper from Dear Lizzy. I added the white cardstock in the center to take away some of the busy-ness of all those houses. I like the doodled houses, and the black and white are perfect for my photo. I did add some fun foam behind my photo as well as some patterned paper and a Project Life card. And that beautiful gold is some Heidi Swapp Color Shine!
I have one more close-up here of the left side of the photo. I added in a few more cute flower stickers from Pinkfresh Studio.
I love how this turned out! I hope you are inspired and maybe got an idea or two to try when you make your next layout. Here’s my process video if you’d like to check it out!
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a terrific week!
