Mixing it up – Title work | Laureen Wagener

Hi Hip Kit fans!

It’s Laureen Wagener with you and I am pumped to share a new post here. This officially marks the first layout made with the uberly gorgoeus March Kits and I am absolutely enjoying the crafty time with it – so many beautiful colors!

Speaking of color – isn’t the Pink Paislee Oh my heart Paper 24 the prettiest thing ever?! I needed to use it and need more of it πŸ˜‰
I actually didn’t start my page with a creative way to put my title, instead I started by cutting a ton of stars out of the paper.

After I had that done I didn’t know what to do until it clicked and so I displayed everything in a rainbow order and loved the look of it! A black and white picture was a must for me, as the jacket I am wearing in the picture wouldn’t have matched with the entire design I had going on already.

I started to layer a few bits behind my picture but didn’t like that as it was too distracting from the busy left side of my layout so I took it easy and only layered a few papers behind my photo.

All the other embellishing takes place within the star/ rainbow design. I love to cluster bits around my photo but when I have a heavy design going on this can be too distracting and it will end up looking way too busy. Whenever that’s the case I like to use the “color on color” technique and match the color of my embellishment with the color of my paper!

Now the great thing about Hip Kit is that Kimberly includes the latest and greatest and coordinates it for you – so it all matches! The Pink Fresh Studio rubber shapes are a perfect color match with some patterns from the Pink Paislee paper – same as the Enamel Dots which are my fav!!

After I had that layed out I started to work on the title. For a “creative title idea” I didn’t want to just use the two types of Thickers we got and so I looked through the papers. Turns out there are two papers absolutely perfect for fuzzy cutting words out of them to use for a title – the Dear Lizzy paper with the cursive font and the Shimelle paper with the bold words.
I simply fuzzy cut some words I thought I could use and layered them on top of my photo.
I loved the way that looked so I stuck them down lightly because I wanted to stich them down.

That’s it from me for today – I will share a new project in April πŸ™‚
Happy crafting friends,

xx Laureen
