Hey everyone, its Raquel Bowman here and today I am going to be sharing my latest layout with you featuring the January Hip Kits. For this layout I am going back to after my little man was born and documenting some of those special moments. One of those moments was his first bath at home. Of course his big sister had to be right in on the action helping us out. Even at 2, it was clear that she was going to be an amazing big sister to this little man.
Here is the layout I created:
I created a main cluster to the left of the photo. In this cluster I added a fussy cut flower from one of the papers, some of the gorgeous Moonstruck ephemera, a cute Hazelwood clip and stickers and the ‘oh happy day’ sentiment cut from one of the Project Life cards.
The photo is printed in 4×6 size and matted on another one of the gorgeous exclusive papers. I also added a 4×6 card from the PL kit in the upper right.
The title is made up of the exclusive cut file ‘love’ cut on the same paper as the heart. I also added the ‘beautiful’ gold die cut word from the Pink Paislee moonstruck pack. The flower is cut from the same 3×4″ project life card as the ‘oh happy day’ sentiment. I also added some simple typewritten journaling to this also. To add some texture to the word ‘love’ I machine stitched through the center of it.
On the background heart cut file that was cut on the exclusive patterned paper I wanted to add some softness to it, so I added vellum behind the design. I added dimension to the whole layout by popping that cut file up on foam tape, including the photo. It creates a shadow on the page and adds a nice detail.
I adapted the exclusive cut file slightly by using the eraser tool in my Silhouette software and erasing the larger heart to the right of the file. It was a little fiddly in parts but I knew that if it didn’t cut perfectly neat I could clean up the edges following cutting with my scissors.
Thanks so much for stopping by the blog today! Did you see the March reveal!?! Hip Kits are so amazing each and every month aren’t they!
