It’s Monday again, friends! Missy back today to share another layout using the beautiful 2016 December Hip Kits. I began with one of the new January cut files designed by Jessica. It’s a gorgeous cluster of butterflies, so be on the lookout for it on the Hip Kit website under the Downloads tab. I cut it on the beautiful striped paper in the Main Kit and Paper Kit from the Take Me Away collection and adhered it to white cardstock from the Cardstock Kit. I used some clear gesso on my cardstock first and then used a few Shimmerz Paints to add some watercolor splotches. I didn’t do a lot of embellishing since the butterflies are the star of the page, but I did hand-stitch around the entire cut file using coordinating colors of embroidery thread, and I really love how it turned out.
I love hand stitching, and this cut file just begged for it! I love it finishes off the edges and really makes it stand out. I added some aqua and pink shades of Shimmerz here and embellished with some of the exclusive Hip Kit die cuts designed by Kim Watson. I also used a few of the white foam flowers from the Amy Tangerine sticker sheet.
I combined some of the Amy Tan Thickers with the Take Me Away Thickers to create my title. I love mixing and matching to get a fun look. I also threw in some enamel dots here and there as well as some tangled thread from my stash. You can also see the tissue paper and patterned papers I used to layer behind my photos.
I love the light shades of purple in the kits this month. I was so happy to see that I did indeed have purple embroidery thread in my stash! It was a perfect match. I did add some adhesive foam under my photos to make them a bit more dimensional.
To add a bit more to these foam flowers, I fussy cut a few leaves from one of the exclusive patterned papers. I love the pop of black from them. I think it balances everything out with the darks in the photos and the scripty words.
Here’s one more close-up of the top of the page. I really love how these colors look, and I’m so happy how this page turned out.
Here’s my process video if you’d like to check it out…I hope you enjoy and get some fun ideas to try!
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful week, friends!
I love it…it’s so beautiful…I loved the butterfly 🙂
This is gorgeous! I love all the details…the stitching around the edges is gorgeous!
Am I the only one that the cut files aren’t showing up for January?
