Oh Christmas Tree – By Raquel Bowman

Hey everyone, its Raquel here today sharing a new layout using the festive November kits and cut files. My aim today was to keep a simple colour palette, so I stuck to neutrals with mint, light pink and pops of hot pink/red. I decided to make one of the exclusive cut files (stay tuned to the Facebook pages for this one!) a feature of my layout and cut it on my 12×12 white card stock.

Here is the layout I created: Oh Christmas Tree

I documented two small wallet size photos of my little man and princess trimming the tree on December 1st this year. As always, it seems to be getting more tricky to snap photos of them so the quality was not the best, however a lot better when converted to black and white images. I placed the photos on the ‘steps’ of the tree, one on either side to help keep the page balanced.

I embellished to the sides of each photo. On the image below, I fussy cut out a few of the trees from the Crate Paper Snow and Cocoa patterned paper. I just adore these little trees and it seems to be all I have used that paper for so far. I also added an exclusive flair from the embellishment add on and an exclusive die cut ephemera word strip which had a good sentiment ‘our pretty tree’.ohchristmastree-close1

To the photo on the right of the page, I added another one of the exclusive flair, more of the fussy cut trees, and one of the exclusive stickers which can be found in the Embellishment add on. This sentiment was what I used as my title. ohchristmastree-close3

To the bottom of the cut file tree I added the exclusive puffy sticker presents, to mimic what a real tree might have under it. They are so cute!ohchristmastree-close2

The large stars from the Documenting December kit are so glittery and fun – I had to use one of the silver ones as my tree topper. ohchristmastree-close4

I added patterned papers to the back of the cut file. Firstly I added a mint patterned paper from the Crate Paper Snow and Cocoa collection to replicate the snow falling. I love the softness of that patterned paper under the cut file. I wanted the tree and text, the main part of the cut file to make a real statement on this page. I tried it with every patterned paper in these kits but this exclusive wood grain was the best by far. It really allowed the text to pop. I love how it turned out. ohchristmastree-close5

I hope this page today has given you some inspiration for using those November kits.
