Exploding Gift Box | Zinia Amoiridou

Hello Hip Kits fans!

I hope you all had a wonderful crafty week so far. Today I’m going to share with you a really fun gift box that I created using the November 2016 Hip Kits. It may look a bit complicated but stick around and you’ll see that it’s not as hard as you think.

There are a lot of different ways to create and embellish this kind of box so feel free to adjust it to your preferences. The main body of the box is made by three layers of paper (24x24cm, 22x22cm and 18x18cm). You will also need a 12x12cm piece of the lid.

This kind of project is a great way to use extra bits of paper from your Paper & Cardstock add-on Kits. Here you can see how to put it together:

You can embellish it any way you want but I decided to do something special for the inside layer. I used my Silhouette and cut out the free tag cutfile designs. I removed the tag outline so I was left with just the cut outs.

I traced one cut-out for each flap and added a bunch of little embellishments to peek through behind the design. I used a bunch of my favorite embellishments from the December Documented kit and the Embellishment kit for November 2016.

Make sure to embellish the flaps on both sides so there’s a hidden surprise in every place.

Another little project you can try for the holidays is to embellish a photo frame. I found one that had a lot of space between the back and the protective plastic so I could add more dimensional embellishments on it.

If your frame comes with a picture in it, you can flip it and use its back side as your base. I used some Shimmerz sprays that came in various color kits and let them drip. With a little wooden clothespin, I attached one card from the Snow and Cocoa cut apart sheet on top of each painted area and added a few embellishments around it.

It’s a great opportunity to make use of those embellishments that are too bulky to add on your scrapbook pages like the stars and the pom poms.

I really hope you enjoyed these projects and got inspired to create something fun with your November 2016 kits. Make sure to stop by the HKC Facebook page and the HKC Member Forum for even more inspiration.

Until next time, happy scrapping🙂
