Hey there, friends! Missy back with you to share another layout using the beautiful 2016 October Hip Kits 🙂 I went a little different with this page and began with a dark navy blue Stargaze cardstock background. My photo is of me and my sister trying on jeans in a dressing room, and the cardstock reminded me of the denim, so it was perfect! I played around with some of the exclusive Project Life cards and used four of them…as layers, as patterned paper and as embellishments. They are very versatile, and I love how the colors & sentiments on these cards work so well with my design and photo. I did a small bit of mixed media work on the cards and background using white gesso, Shimmerz Paints and Prima Oil Pastels. I used DT Member Zinia’s beautiful cut file on my background as well.
I used one of the Pink Paislee patterned papers from the Main Kit & Paper Kit to cut the cut file and then layered everything on top of that. Here you can see where I added some Shimmerz Jeni B Bleu Vibez to the corner of the PL card to jazz it up a bit. I did some machine stitching on the cards, and here I added a WRMK floral sticker and a cute puffy sticker. I added more detail with some of the rub-ons and enamel dots.
These big wood veneer pieces from WRMK are amazing. They make the greatest embellishments! Here you can see the cardstock’s texture through the white gesso and oil pastels. I just used my finger to smudge it on to create that faded smoky look.
I love the dimension created here. I did add some foam under this entire cluster and even a little bit more under my photo. I layered in some of the Dear Lizzy Saturday ephemera and a leaf stem Thicker from Pink Paislee. That coral frame in the back is another one of the WRMK wood veneer pieces.
I added more pops of that beautiful deep aqua color with tangled thread. Here you can see more of the pink stitching I did along some of the edges of the cut file. That gold splatter is from the Glorious Day Vibez from the Color Kit.
I used these gorgeous Pebbles Rose Gold Thickers for my title. They’re in the Embellishment Kit, and they are just gorgeous. I decided to use the Dear Lizzy chipboard 2 tag here because it reminds me of tags you find on clothes in stores, but it also looks like one of those tags they give you in a dressing room when you have a certain number of items…and you hang it on the door. It was perfect for this photo! I layered it right on to of the O and added some thread to it.
Here’s one more look at some of the details. This was really a lot of fun to make!
Here’s my process video if you’d like to check it out. I hope you get some fun ideas to try!
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a terrific week, friends!
Love those fun and pretty layers!
