Hello everyone! It’s Zinia here and today I want to share with you some pocket page projects I created using the gorgeous September 2016 kits.
For both projects I used only the September 2016 Main kit and Embellishment kit. Although the project life kits are fantastic every single month, I wanted to show you, how you can still create beautiful pocket style pages using leftover bits from your Main kit.
So let’s start with some 6×8 spreads. I’m not really a busy person with an adventurous life but I still want to document the little moments that make everyday unique. That’s why I chose to work on a smaller album where I can add just a few photos whenever I have something I want to scrap.
My first step was to chose my favorite patterns from the papers that came in the September 2016 main kit to cut some cards. I cut everything in 4×6 to have them ready and decide later if I’ll cut them to 3×4 or keep them as is. To keep my spreads light I stuck some of my photos and embellishments on some pieces of vellum I cut down to size.
The Maggie Holmes Gather ephemera pack that came with the main kit this month had some really beautiful big pieces that could be used instead of cards in project life spreads. I especially loved the tags. If you cut them a bit shorter, they fit nicely in 3×4 pockets.
I also loved using the bigger alpha stickers from the Main and Embellishment kits to create some eye catching filler card. Although it’s usually easier to work with smaller alpha stickers in project life, it’s really fun to incorporate bolder elements like this.
The little frames from the Maggie Holmes cut apart sheet from the main kit are perfect to use in 3×4 pockets too. I added most of my journaling on them and had them stuck on top of the pattern papers I cut at the start.
I know most people prefer flat embellishments in project life albums but I really loved how this Maggie Holmes crepe paper embellishment looked on top of the vellum. Since it was pretty bulky I had to stick it on top of the page protector.
In this second spread I left some of my 3×4 cards “empty” cause I couldn’t stand covering those gorgeous floral patterns.
I made the last card of this spread by sticking some strips of washi tape behind the journaling frame. Dressing white cards with washi tape is one of my most favorite things to do to create custom designs.
I also wanted to share a pocket letter I created again using the September 2016 Main kit and Embellishment kit. I really love making pocket letters cause they are like project life without photos. They are the perfect project to make use of embellishments you struggle with like the cute bear from the Gather ephemera pack or the lovely mermaid from the Cute Girl chipboard.
In every collection/kit there are always some bits that are absolutely beautiful but when it comes to use them in a project I just can’t find the right photos or the right place for them. Those usually find their place in happy mail or card projects like this.
I really hope you enjoyed and got inspired on how to use your September 2016 kits to create some pocket projects (or something else). Make sure to stop by the HKC Facebook page and the HKC Member Forum for even more inspiration.
Until next time, happy scrapping 🙂
