Fussy Cutting Patterned Paper

Hey friends!  It’s Missy, and I have a new layout to share using the 2016 September Hip Kits.  Don’t you think these kits just keep getting more and more beautiful each month?  These papers and embellishments are just stunning, and you all know how hard that makes it to choose what to start with!  I was drawn to the pretty royal blue color in a few of the Maggie Holmes Gather papers from the Main Kit & Paper Kit.  I would never have thought to mix peachy pink and mint with that darker blue, but this collection makes it work so well.  I was inspired by that gorgeous frame paper, so I fussy cut several of the frames out and created a background design with them.  I also used the Echo Park Stencil from the Color Kit along with the two Shimmerz Paints.  I scraped modeling paste over the stencil and then used the Anchors Away & Great Fruit Shimmerz on top of it.  I used the packaging technique and a brush.  I also used a few of the Prima Oil Pastels from the August Color Kit.

Here you can see the beautiful texture created from the stencil, paste and Shimmerz.  I have to say I really love these colors together.  I decided to use these photos because my daughter is wearing royal blue, so it brings everything together nicely.  I did use some white gesso before adding any of the other products to protect the cardstock from all the liquid.  Those gold script puffy alphas are also from the Maggie Holmes Gather line, and they are in the Project Life Kit.

I completed my title with the puffy alphas from Pinkfresh Studio Indigo Hills from the Main Kit.  I created a fun little layered cluster under that using chipboard, a Simple Stories die cut, and a Maggie Holmes sticky button.  I added some blue thread under it all for added color and texture.

I also did some machine stitching in mint, blue and shiny gold.  I just think it makes everything look finished.  It also adds color and texture, and I felt like I needed a little pop of gold over on that side.  I added some tissue paper under my photos as well as some gold Color Shine.

I just love this adorable camera die cut.  It’s in the Simple Stories Posh collection, and that die cut pack is in the Project Life Kit.  I added pop dots under it to give it even more dimension.

Here’s my process video for this page.  I hope you get some fun ideas!

Thank you so much for stopping by, and have a great day!
